                                                                                  Precious Memories

Marjorie Carson Chancellor, affectionately known as “Marge”, entered rest on Sunday, March 26, 2023, at her
daughter’s residence in Hephzibah, GA.

Marjorie was born on August 7, 1942, in Abbeville County, South Carolina. She was the third of nine children born
to the late Easter Jane Carson and John M. Carson. Marjorie helped raise her younger siblings and continued to be
their anchor throughout her life. She was a devoted wife to her late husband, a loving and doting mother,
grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend.

Marjorie received Christ at an early age and joined Wilson Creek Baptist Church #2 in Iva, SC. At a later age, she
moved her membership to Geneorstee Baptist Church in Starr, SC where she sang in the choir. A decline in her
health led to her change in membership to Grace Baptist Church Redemption House in Anderson, SC.
Marjorie graduated from the great Westside High School in Anderson, SC. She also attended Tri- County Technical
College in Pendleton, SC. She retired from the Department of Social Services after almost 30 years of service as
the Food Stamps Coordinator. Marjorie’s exceptional strength and wisdom were evident to all who were fortunate
enough to have known her. She enjoyed music, especially rhythm & blues and gospel, going to church, and
entertaining family and friends. Marge had an uncanny ability to make people laugh.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Sylvester “Bug” Chancellor; son, Sylvester Durand Chancellor;
three brothers, Shamsud- Dinn “Burgess” Rahim (Peggy), John Thomas Carson, and Claude Carson; three sisters,
Marilyn (Jackie) Clement, Leora (Lloyd) Garvin, and Jimmie Carson Bruno.

Her lasting and loving memories will be cherished by two daughters, Angela Carson of Atlanta, GA, and Hilda
(Rufus) Van of Hephzibah, GA; a niece Veronica (Shon) Henderson of Anderson, SC that was reared in the home;
granddaughters Takesha Ford of Coppell, TX, Destiny Van of Hephzibah, GA, Cintarian Hollings, Sylvia Hollings
(reared in the home), and Courtney Martin all of Anderson, SC; grandson, Rufus Khalid Van of Hephzibah, GA;
nine greatgrandchildren; two sisters, Brenda (Jimmy) Ellis and Patricia Carson both of Anderson, SC; two brothers,
